Yes, you can buy them (ess ice) from many shooting retailers for around $50 new retail, or you can buy them new surplus for around $30. The insert piece costs $20, and having it filled in can cost between $20 to $100 depending where you get them. Please take in mind im in the uk, so my prices are estimates based on uk prices. They are comfy, have unhindered field of view and are very easy to swap out lenses for. Most of all, they are extremely durable. Definitely recommended!

Are these recommended for someone who plays baseball and wants an impact resistant set of glasses with replaceable/rx lenses?
Is it possible for a civilian to order a set?

Ive grown annoyed with typical sun glasses where if i scratch the lenses i need to throw the whole pair out…

Our products do what they are primarily intended to do – protect people from fragmentation or other potential hazards. There have been millions of units of products at work in the field and thousands of instances where the products have done their job…the facts are there. I am sorry though that you have experienced scratching with your lenses – such things can happen to any sunglasses. Contact us if you want – we’re all about resolution. (Literally & figuratively speaking.)

  13. ESS EyePro says:

Jason: Polycarbonate lenses are able to protect you because the relative pliability of polycarbonate is better able to absorb impact. Polycarbonate DOES scratch easily, though, which is why lenses are treated with hard coatings to help minimize scratching. This doesn’t mean they can’t be scratched – as with any polycarbonate product, care must be taken to protect the lenses.

  14. ESS EyePro says:

Once we surpass MIL-SPEC, we then gradually increase the velocity of each successive round of the test in order to factor the results to calculate the V0 and V50 results for each lens type. see: en.wikipedia(dot)org/wiki/Ballistic_vest#Ballistic_testing_V50_and_V0

  15. ESS EyePro says:

@Recon985: The best method for achieving the specific velocity that the U.S. MIL-SPEC test guidelines calls for is to use an air-pressure system instead of gunpowder. Basically, our lab (and other similar labs) use custom air guns that fire various diameter projectiles, so when we’re testing the .22 cal projectile we use that specific gun, establish that we are firing at the correct velocity, and then repeat the test, record data, etc.

Akkurat denne sangen er det like god driv over, som mye av det Jokke lagde ja, men det hjelper lite med en låt. Jokke leverte jo låter på løpende bånd. 🙂
